Meet Michaela
After writing professionally for the magazines owned by the American Paint Horse Association, I worked as an admissions counselor for the University of Nebraska. Missing writing terribly, I found a way to blend my two passions of writing and working with students for their future in the college counseling field. After leaving UNL, I helped build a college counseling company to become one of the largest college counseling firms in the country for 8 years before starting Crafted Admissions to bring every idea I've had to life. From my experience as a former admission counselor and Honors recruiter in Business, Pre-med and Engineering, I’ll help you identify the schools where you’ll thrive and guide you through the process to get there.

Why a Group Format?
Here's what the large college consulting firms don't want you to know: the 1:1 structure being designed to use up student’s hours. It's not actually the most efficient way to move through college essays. 1:1 models are designing to run out mid-way and ask for moe money to continue to receive assistance. In meetings, I found myself repeating the same information, meeting after meeting. In a group setting, we can cover more ground, reach more students and have more quality time spent on offline edits. Plus, I never underestimate the competitive spirit that comes alive in group brainstorming sessions as they see other people’s ideas turn into a full outline, and they want to be next. It really pushes them to the next level. My last group session in 2025 (a late-season Personal Statement class before the Regular Decision January deadlines) had three students, who now are committed to: NYU, Duke and Rice. Even last minute - the group setting works wonders!
Why Hire A College Consultant?
If your high school offers exceptional college counseling, you’re one of the lucky ones. But for many students, the reality is different: you may be one of hundreds assigned to a counselor you’ve only met once, or you might find that the niche college advice you are needing is lacking.Over the past decade, budget cuts have eroded public school funding for college counseling, leaving students without the in-depth, personalized guidance they deserve. Most counselors only receive education on preparing students for local state university admissions, often overlooking the nuanced requirements and opportunities at private and out-of-state colleges. My goal is to create a process where parents are kept informed of progress but don't have to push or nag when they get to the essays and deadlines in senior year.
